Histories of the Present: Our Second Workshop!

Fri Jun 23 2016 | 9:30am – 5pm | Newnham College, University of Cambridge

Registration* | Schedule | Bios | Speaker Publications

This second workshop in our series on Infrastructures of Gendered Violence flesh out the myriad ways that ‘infrastructure’ can be used as an analytic category to understand how gendered violence proliferates in urban geographies, with a focus on Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. This workshop, the second in our series, will contextualise gendered violence spatially (through a focus on infrastructures) and temporally (through a focus on histories). Our project seeks to move away from simplistic and ahistorical understandings of gendered violence, and for that reason we are interested in ethnographic and historical methodologies which explore in more depth gendered violence in urban contexts.

* The workshop is invite-only. Please e-mail us on team@infragender.com our Contact Us page if you would like to take part as a participant.
